PARIS—Alstom's chief executive says the French engineering company is cooperating with Swiss and French investigators conducting investigations into alleged corruption, bribery and money laundering.

Patrick Kron has told reporters the probe involves "old affairs" dating to the late 1990s that he says he knows nothing about.

He made the comments Wednesday at an Alstom news briefing. The maker of high-speed trains and power plants said net income rose 56 percent in its latest fiscal year to euro852 million (US$1.32 billion).

The Swiss prosecutor's office said Tuesday it was examining claims of offenses against people associated with Alstom over infrastructure contracts in South America and Asia.

French officials have questioned Alstom officials.
