MEXICO CITY—Mexican telecommunications magnate Carlos Slim said he is not seeking to acquire Digital+, the satellite TV monopoly of Spanish media concern Prisa.

Slim says he is focused on the expansion of America Movil in Jamaica, Panama and Chile. America Movil is Latin America's largest mobile operator.

Slim made his comments Thursday on the sidelines of a charity event where he announced he is donating $110 million to fight poverty in Latin America.

There had been reports saying that Slim could be interested in Digital+. Slim said those reports were nothing more than rumors.

In addition to Digital+, Prisa operates the leading Spanish daily newspaper El Pais and radio networks in Spain and Latin America.
