BoE: mortgages hit new low

LONDON—Mortgage approvals in the United Kingdom fell to a record low in April, the Bank of England said Monday.

The April total of 58,000 mortgages was the lowest monthly figure since the Bank began collecting data 15 years ago. The previous record low was set in March, when 64,000 mortgages were approved.
