PORTLAND, Ore.—Columbia Sportswear is joining the cycling world.

The Oregon sportswear company announced Monday that it is partnering with California-based High Road Sports -- the owner of Team High Road -- on a sponsorship agreement for the Tour de France.

The team will soon compete as "Team Columbia" and don new uniforms in France in July.

Many companies have dropped sponsorship deals or limited ties to the tour because of the doping scandals that have plagued cycling. But Columbia says the deal will help elevate the presence of its brand in European markets.

The three-year sponsorship agreement includes both the men's and women's professional cycling teams. At least 15 riders from Team Columbia are also expected to represent their countries in the upcoming Olympics.
