VIENNA - The global body that governs the legal trade in nuclear materials postponed a decision yesterday on whether to give New Delhi access to nuclear fuel and technology. The Nuclear Supplier Group's rules ban nuclear trade with countries that have not signed international nonproliferation accords. Its approval is essential for finalizing a civil nuclear cooperation deal. (AP)

Suspect held in plot on cartoonist leaves
COPENHAGEN - A Tunisian left Denmark voluntarily yesterday after being faced with deportation because he was suspected of plotting to kill a Danish cartoonist, Kurt Westergaard, who made a controversial caricature of the prophet Mohammed. Two were arrested Feb. 12 in the case. (AP)

Aviation officials inspect plane gauge
MADRID - Spain's top aviation official said yesterday that a glitch in an air temperature gauge that forced a Madrid jetliner to abandon a takeoff attempt an hour before it crashed should be closely examined. Civil Aviation chief Manuel Bautista said a combination of failures - technical, human, or both - probably caused Wednesday's crash, which killed 153 people, many of them on vacation. Nineteen survived. (AP)

Meat suspected in 3 food-related deaths
WINNIPEG - Three people in Ontario have died in a food poisoning outbreak that may be linked to sandwich meat from one of the country's largest meat processors, Maple Leaf Foods Inc., health officials said yesterday. None of the products were exported, a Canadian Food Inspection Agency official said. (Reuters)
