The first stop was one that the Iraqis might not have put on the list themselves – the shrine to Khomeini, just outside Tehran. Iraqis fought a bloody war with Khomeini’s Iran in the 1980s. But the tour operators wanted to give them a new picture of the revolutionary leader, and it seemed to work on Jalil Abbas. ``He was a righteous man,’’ he said as he got off the bus. ``Look what he has – and look where Saddam has ended up.”
