A pilgrimage to Iran |

The pilgrimage is also a chance for the Iranian government to expose the Iraqis to some of its ideas. The government invites the poorest pilgrims to sleep for free at the Zeinabiyeh mosque. Posters of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Irans supreme leader, and his predecessor Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of the 1979 Iranian revolution, decorate the mosque, and pamphlets of their sayings are available in Arabic.
