South African Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka lit an HIV/AIDS awareness candle during a World Aids Day event in Nelspruit, South Africa.

Mlambo-Ngcuka launched plans to provide care for 80 percent of HIV sufferers and their families in her country, which has the second-highest incidence of HIV in the world.
