Andrés Manuel López Obrador will have four days to officially log complaints with the Federal Electoral Institute. The election results will go before a seven-judge tribunal that has the legal power to overturn an election.
López Obrador's Party of the Democratic Revolution said it also might consider challenging the results in an international tribunal.
The electoral tribunal has until Sept. 6 to declare a winner. The new president is scheduled to begin a single, six-year term on Dec. 1.
