MANAGUA, Nicaragua—Police in Nicaragua say two clashes among rival political groups have killed four people and injured 12 since Sunday's presidential election.
Police Commissioner Fernando Borge says one of those killed in a clash in the town of Siuna on Tuesday was the political secretary for President Daniel Ortega's Sandinista Party. Borge says seven police officers were among the injured in that fight between Sandinsitas and members of the Liberal Independent Party.
The police commander said Wednesday that a 60-year-old woman and her two sons died late Tuesday in the town of San Jose de Cusmapa when Ortega supporters clashed with backers of Fabio Gadea of the Liberal Independent Party. Gadea lost the presidential election to Ortega.
