Tropical depression heading west in Pacific

MIAMI—A tropical depression in the Pacific is moving westward on a track that is taking it farther out to sea.
The depression is not threatening any land.
The depression's maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 kph) early Thursday. The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami says some strengthening is expected and the depression could become a tropical storm.
The depression is centered about 620 miles (1,000 kilometers) south of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California and is moving west-northwest near 13 mph (20 kph).
