    SCENES FROM ISRAEL-GAZA CONFLICT

REFILE - ADDITIONAL CAPTION INFORMATION Palestinians flash the victory sign as Israeli soldiers (not seen) stand guard near the fence between Israel and southern Gaza Strip November 23, 2012. The Palestinians are reacting to the eight-day Israeli offensive against Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip, and also what they see as a victory after being able to approach closest to the border since 2009. Israeli gunfire at the Gaza border killed one Palestinian on Friday and wounded several others, medics said, two days after a ceasefire between the territory's Islamist rulers Hamas and Israel took hold. Israeli gunfire at the Gaza border killed one Palestinian on Nov. 23 and wounded several others, medics said, two days after a cease-fire between Hamas and Israel took hold. The shooting did not appear to pose an immediate threat to the Egypt-brokered cease-fire, which called for an end to Gaza rocket fire on Israel and Israeli airstrikes on Gaza. The truce came after eight days of cross-border fighting, the bloodiest between Israel and Hamas in four years.

The latest upsurge in a long-running conflict between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza was triggered on Nov. 14 when Israel killed Hamas's military mastermind, Ahmed Al-Jaabari, in a precision airstrike on his car. Click through for more scenes of the Gaza-Israeli conflict.
