American deaths
The Department of Defense has released the names of the following service members who were killed recently in Iraq and Afghanistan:
Army Specialist Michael C. Campbell, 34, of Marshfield, Mo., on May 19 in Samarra when his convoy hit an explosive device. Assigned to Headquarters Troop, First Squadron, Fourth Cavalry Regiment, First Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany.
Army Private First Class Leslie D. Jackson, 18, of Richmond, on May 20 in Baghdad when her vehicle hit an explosive device. Assigned to A Company, 115th Forward Support Battalion, First Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.
Army Staff Sergeant Jeremy R. Horton, 24, of Erie, Pa., on May 21 near Iskandariyah from an explosive device. Assigned to Company B, Second Battalion, Sixth Infantry Regiment, First Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany.
Marine Staff Sergeant Jorge A. Molina Bautista, 37, of Rialto, Calif., on May 23 because of hostile action in Anbar Province. Assigned to First Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, First Marine Division, First Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
Army Private First Class Owen D. Witt, 20, of Sand Springs, Mont., on May 24 in Ad Dawr in a motor vehicle accident. Assigned to First Squadron, Fourth Cavalry, First Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany.
Army Private First Class Richard H. Rosas, 21, of St. Louis, Mich., and Army Private First Class James P. Lambert, 23, of New Orleans, on May 25 in Fallujah when an explosive device hit their patrol. Both were assigned to the Third Battalion, 62d Air Defense Artillery, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.
Army Private First Class Daniel P. Unger, 19, of Exeter, Calif., on May 25 in Iskandariyah from a rocket attack. Assigned to First Battalion, 185th Armor, 81st Separate Armor Brigade, Visalia, Calif.
Marine Lance Corporal Benjamin R. Gonzalez, 23, of Los Angeles, on Saturday due to hostile action in Anbar Province. Second Battalion, Fourth Marine Regiment, First Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
Army Captain Daniel W. Eggers, 28, who grew up in Hollis, N.H., Army Staff Sergeant Robert J. Mogensen, 26, of Leesville, La., Private First Class Joseph A. Jeffries, 21, of Beaverton, Ore., and Navy Petty Officer First Class Brian J. Ouellette, 37, raised in Waltham, Mass., on Saturday in Afghanistan when their vehicle hit a land mine. Eggers and Mogensen were assigned to the First Battalion, Third Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C. Jeffries was assigned to the Army Reserve's 329th Psychological Operations Company, Portland, Ore., and Ouellette was a US Navy SEAL serving with Navy Special Warfare Group Two, Little Creek, Va
