Bhutto (right), with her mother, Nusrat, broke into tears while delivering a condolence speech in Karachi in September 1996, after the assassination of her brother. She said his death was a conspiracy against her family and an effort to destabilize her government. Bhutto's brother Murtaza was killed in police shootout a few days earlier.
