German Chancellor Angela Merkel talked with soldiers in the military camp in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan, on Monday. Merkel made a one-day trip to visit German troops in northern Afghanistan and offered President Hamid Karzai her condolences over the killing of 16 civilians by a US soldier, the government said.
