Dore -- who grew up in Moscow, went to school in Bingham, and graduated from the Job Corps in Bangor -- believed strongly in his mission in Iraq, a point he made clear on his MySpace page. "What ... does Uncle Frank or Aunt Edna know about Al Qaeda, what they learned from CNN?" he wrote. "The people want us home and I would love to be home, but my job ... is not done yet." Dore died on July 8, 2007, of injuries from a roadside bomb.
