Sergeant Jason Swiger, 24, South Portland, Maine
Swiger's sister, Angelica Cole, said Swiger was one of four soldiers who left their Humvee to hand out candy to a group of Iraqi children in Baqubah when a suicide bomber blew himself up. "He was just trying to make the world a better place. I have two small children and he would talk about how he wanted it to be safer for them," Cole said. "In that situation, getting out of the Humvee to pass out candy, you could see him doing that." Swiger died on March 25, 2007.
