Sergeant William Samuel "Jack" Jackson II, 29, Thomaston, Maine
Jackson grew up in Maine before settling in Michigan. Jackson was a prankster, according to a letter written by a fellow soldier and read at Jackson's funeral, whose pranks included covering the floor around a sleeping soldier with mouse traps and jotting down outrageous diary entries -- in other soldiers' journals. Jackson (shown with his family) died on Nov. 11, 2006, after an IED exploded near his vehicle.
