Captain Jonathan D. Grassbaugh, 25, East Hampstead, N.H.

Grassbaugh was born in Ohio, but grew up in New Hampshire before attending Johns Hopkins University. Brigadier General Michael Ferriter got to know Grassbaugh during his first tour. "Jonathan was perfect," he said during Grassbaugh's funeral Mass. "He was always the first to know instinctively the best way to accomplish any mission." Grassbaugh and three others died April 7, 2007, in Zaganiyah, Iraq, when a roadside bomb detonated near their unit.
