Corporal Christopher Degiovine, 25, Essex, Vt.
Degiovine grew up in Vermont before moving to Colorado. He aspired to a career in law enforcement and did bicycle patrols for Essex police for two summers while in college. He tried to get a job with Denver police, but got impatient and joined the Marines instead, his father, Ray Degiovine, told the Burlington Free Press. Degiovine was killed by a roadside bomb on April 26, 2007, in Anbar Province.
