As a child, Daniel McGuire dreamed of being a superhero, and in the eyes of those who loved him, he died as one. The oldest of four boys, McGuire demonstrated a willingness to serve from a young age, earning the Boy Scouts' God and Country award, and dreaming of enlisting in the military and then going into teaching. McGuire died Aug. 14 after he was attacked by insurgents while on watch near Fallujah in Iraq.
