Auburn 30, Tantasqua 7

Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at Fiskdale

Top-ranked Auburn continued to click during last night’s clash with Tantasqua Regional, despite spirited, aggressive play by the Warriors. The Rockets were fueled by senior running back Tyler Desjardins, who rushed for all of Auburn’s touchdowns in leading his team to a 30-7 victory at Tantasqua’s rainy gridiron. Auburn improved to 7-0, 2-0 in SWCL A. The Warriors are 3-4, 1-2 in the league. “Tantasqua is good, they’re well coached, and we knew coming in that they were very athletic,” Auburn coach Jeff Cormier said. “We thought both offensively and defensively they’d be well prepared, and they were. I thought their kids tackled real well.” “But our coaches and kids found some things that could work, and we were fortunate enough to capitalize on them, and also get some breaks,” Cormier said. “Two good football teams playing hard. But we were able to find a way to get into the end zone more than them.”
