Until the final 2-1/2 minutes, it seemed Notre Dame Academy coach Patty Provost may have to wait another day for the milestone. Kylee Gosler's goal 20 minutes into the game looked as if it might hold for Burncoat. But the host Rebels (2-0) struck twice late to give Provost her 500th career victory, 2-1, over the Patriots (3-1). Junior Hannah Mullaney took a pass along the right wing from senior Allie Buckley and scored to tie the game with 2:30 left. "From there, we were doing a good job controlling the ball and staying poised," said Provost, in her 36th year coaching at Notre Dame. With 57 seconds to play, senior captain Meghan Sullivan connected from in close for the winner. Burncoat took the faceoff downfield for one last chance, but the Rebel defense held on the right side, and the celebration began, complete with cake and other gifts. "It's a great moment in someone's career, but the greatest thing is for the kids to experience it," Provost said. "They really wanted to play out there, and they played with such heart. It's an experience these kids won't ever forget."
