The host Rangers made their only night home game of the season a memorable one, as quarterback Dan Orlando scored on a 4-yard rush in the third quarter and the Rangers held on to shock No. 5 Wachusett. Westboro (1-7) fell behind, 14-0, before Kevin Sanders found Rick Casparriello for a 20-yard touchdown pass on a fake field goal in the second quarter. The Rangers got on track in the third quarter when Orlando hit Johnny Maguire with a 34-yard touchdown pass to tie the game before taking the lead on Orlando's rush. The Rangers drove to the 1-yard line of the Mountaineers (5-3), but fumbled in the end zone. Wachusett followed with a drive that was capped by Scott Tupper's 10-yard touchdown rush with 1:30 left. The Rangers took over from there and drained the clock to seal the win. Orlando completed 4 of 8 passes for 92 yards, while rushing 12 times for 50 yards. Anthony Phillips gained 111 yards on 19 carries and also led the Rangers with eight tackles. Sammy Rivera scored on a 55-yard rush for Wachusett, while Trevor MacNeil added a 4-yard score to give the Mountaineers an early lead.
