Doherty 41, Burncoat 14

Sam Oppong ran for two touchdowns, recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass to lead Doherty High to a 41-14 victory over Burncoat High at Commerce Bank Field. Doherty improved to 9-2 overall and won the Inter-High championship with a 3-0 record. Doherty has won nine games for the first time since the school opened in 1966 and will advance to the Central Mass. Division 2 playoffs Tuesday at Commerce Bank Field. Freshman David Jones threw two touchdown passes to Ryan Derusha in the fourth quarter for Burncoat. The Patriots finished 0-11 overall and 0-3 in the Inter-High. Oppong won the Ralph Raymond Award as Doherty's most valuable player of the game. Derusha won the Brian Dougal Award as Burncoat's MVP.
