Though it took a quarter to get the juices flowing, Nashoba Regional's second-ranked team was pretty much on target in today's annual Thanksgiving Day game with North Middlesex Regional. The Chieftains did all their scoring in the second and third quarters and got an added boost from senior running back John Ojukwu. Ojukwu returning after a two-game layoff due to an injury, rushed for a touchdown and caught a pass for another in leading Nashoba to a 46-14 win at John E. Young Memorial Field. For the second straight year, the Chieftains, the defending Division 2 Super Bowl champion and the winners of 24 straight games, finish the regular season with an 11-0 overall record. Nashoba will be competing in the playoffs for the fourth straight year, beginning Tuesday. The Chieftains' variety-laced offense produced a game-breaking 25 points in the second quarter, and a 25-7 lead by the half. Ojukwu scored the first TD on a 10-yard run. Senior running back Andrew Cross ran in the two-point conversion. Senior Garrett Curran scored the second TD when he pounced on a loose ball in the Patriots' end-zone after teammate Eli Williams fumbled just inside the 5-yard line. Junior Drew Korn kicked the extra point. Moments later senior wide receiver Brady Schartner caught a 26-yard TD toss from senior quarterback Jack Sarnoski. Korn kicked the extra point. Korn capped the first-half scoring with a 30-yard field goal. Sophomore John Boutwell and senior Brandon Lambert had TD rushes for North Middlesex (3-8). Senior Ben Ferro kicked both extra points.
