Shepherd Hill 42, Northbridge 27

Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at Dudley

There's nothing more exhilarating for a football coach when a game plan comes together and Shepherd Hill's, 42-27, win over fourth-ranked Northbridge last night proved just that. After being forced to punt on its first possession, No. 9 Shepherd Hill was unstoppable, scoring six consecutive touchdowns. "Our mentally is to be the toughest team out there and just hit," said junior running back Jake Gelb who rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown. "We got stuffed on our first drive, but we picked it up and we started catching it and everything went good. Northbridge is the best team we'll play all year." Playing without starting tailbacks Brad Picard (ankle) and Matthew Vertucci (concussion), Shepherd Hill, which never trailed, rolled up nearly 400 yards of offense, all on the ground. Kyle Amico rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns while GianLuca Laudone (97 yards), Tyler Simmons (18 yards), and quarterback Drew Ravenelle (21 yards) all scored. Drew Jean-Guillaume picked up 54 yards on 13 carries. "It was one of the best wins we've ever had," said Shepherd Hill coach Chris Lindstrom whose team improved to 6-1 overall, 2-1 in SWCL A. "Northbridge is unbelievable. We respect Northbridge so much. The players are exhausted, the coaches are exhausted. We're all going to sleep well tonight. This was the best we could play. I think the weather helped us. It was definitely in our favor. I didn't think it was going to be, but it was."
