Bartlett 26, Millbury 20

Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at Webster

Trailing, 20-18, on fourth down from its own 20 with just over a minute and no timeouts remaining, Bartlett High looked to the player who delivered all night — Akeem Belnavis. Belnavis hauled in his fourth touchdown of the game, an 80-yard strike from Ricky Spooner, to lift the host Indians over Millbury, 26-20. “Ricky put the ball right on the money,” Belnavis said. “I beat the last defender; once I looked left and right, I saw how open I was, and the ball was right there for me.” Bartlett is 3-4, 2-0 in SWCL B. “I looked over at Akeem, and I saw there was a safety over the top,” Spooner said. “That would have been the last play if it was dropped, and I just have faith in Akeem. I have 100 percent confidence if the ball is in the air, he’s going to come down with it.”
