West Boylston 45, Assabet 14

Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at West Boylston

The undefeated Lions scored 31 second-half points to cap their destruction of a very good Assabet Regional team in front of a large Homecoming crowd. No. 10 West Boylston is 6-0 for the first time since 1989, while the Aztecs fell to 4-2. “These kids have been working incredibly hard since we started preseason camp,” West Boylston coach Dave Tinglof said. “After missing the playoffs by a point last year, I think these guys feel like they have a lot to prove to people. They want to show they are a good team.” Alex Churchill led a balanced attack for the Lions with a pair of touchdowns – one on offense and one on defense – while Devin Desautels, Bryan Hayes, Mike Pace and Ben Tasker added touchdowns. Quarterback Steven Gould did a solid job running the offense, throwing a TD pass to Hayes. Kyle Fernandes and Paul Harpin had the touchdowns for Assabet, though the Lions did a great job of bottling up the Aztecs' dangerous backfield tandem.
