Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Charlton

Powerful Bay Path Regional closed out a 10-1 regular season by scoring on the ground, in the air, on defense and on special teams to grind out a 39-22 victory over Worcester Tech yesterday at George L. Fowler Memorial Field in Charlton. The Minutemen rolled up a 32-7 halftime lead and let the reserves take over for most of the second half. Senior quarterback Kyle Thibeault was 6 of 10 for 235 yards, including a 45-yard touchdown pass to senior tight end Ray Neeland in the second quarter. Thibeault also ran 1 yard for the next TD. Bay Path scored on its first possession with senior running back John Vidal scoring from 12 yards out. Vidal rushed for 39 yards on seven carries and also recovered a fumble. On Tech's first possession, Bay Path senior defensive end Jamie Paniagua blocked a punt and senior DE Jake Mills returned it 36 yards for a TD. The Minutemen scored on three of four second-quarter possessions after leading it off with a 68-yard interception return for a TD by senior cornerback Anthony Baez. Bay Path, which is headed for the Division 6 playoffs with 19 seniors, finished with virtually a perfect offensive split -- 123 yards passing, 120 yards rushing. Freshman twins Festus Konneh (26 yards) and Francis Konneh (35 yards) ran for touchdowns for the Eagles (3-8, 2-5 Colonial League), as did Makentry Long (12 yards). "It was kind of an ugly game, but we did what we had to do," said Bay Path coach Al Dhembe said. "It was a nice one to end it with. We finished undefeated in the Colonial League at 7-0 and 10-1 for the season, and we're looking forward to the playoffs."
