The Lawrence High seniors came out firing in the last game of their careers, to shutout the Blue Devils of Salem (N.H.) 28-0. Seniors Nelson Valerio and Louis Rosa split time under center to lead the Lancers (3-8) into the end zone every quarter. In the first quarter, Franger Baez caught a 30-yard pass from Rosa to put Lawrence High on the board. Xavier Santiago’s point after kick was good; he was four for four on the day. Before the half was over, Jeremiah Damiron rushed for a three-yard touchdown. Rosa threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to George Urena in the third quarter and finished up his three-touchdown game with a one-yard rush into the end zone in the fourth. Although Valerio wasn’t in for any of the scoring plays, he was certainly responsible for moving the Lancers down the field. He finished his career with a school record 2,000 passing yards. The previous record was 1,900 years, held by Nick Elwell who graduated in 2011 and now plays quarterback at Norwich University. Urena, another senior, also reached a benchmark during Wednesday’s game, his seven catches for 110 yards put him over 1,000 yards for the season.
