Marblehead was in search of its seventh win of the season last night, and Ian Maag made sure the Magicians got that lucky number. The senior quarterback completed 10 of 18 passes for 243 yards and five touchdowns as the hosts rolled past Gloucester, 39-12. Marblehead (7-0) is off to its best start in school history. Maag got his team rolling in the first quarter when he found Brooks Tyrrel for a 31-yard score and Jeremy Gillis for a 14-yard strike. Gloucester (1-6) got to within 13-12 when Jordan Pallazola scored on a 20-yard rush in the second quarter, but Maag extended the lead with a 9-yard toss to Zac Cuzner, then scored on a 7-yard scamper to make it 26-12 at the half. A pair of third-quarter touchdown passes from Maag sealed the victory for Marblehead. Maag found Brian Daley on a 40-yard throw, then hit Gillis on a 25-yarder for a 39-12 advantage. Maag has been dynamic through the air this season. With his 243-yard performance, he has now eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark while completing 65 percent of his passes and throwing 11 touchdowns.
