Junior Sam Coveney made a run down the left wing in the 63rd minute, drew the keeper off his line and sent a low roller into the right side of goal to deliver the winner for the No. 13-seeded Pioneers (5-13-2) as they upset the fourth-seeded Chieftains (12-4-3). Senior captain Mike Kotsopoulos made six quality saves to post the shutout in an up-tempo game. Backup keeper Dan Horgan made the play of the game in the second half after Kotsopoulos briefly exited with an injury, making a clutch stop on a Nashoba bid for an equalizer. St. John's moves on to play at No. 12 seed Leominster in a Division 1 district quarterfinal at a time yet to be decided on Sunday.
