The teams played even until midway through the second half when Blue Devils senior Maximiliano Delgado scored the game-winner to clinch 12th-seeded Leominster's 2-1 victory. The Blue Devils (9-5-7) advance to a state semifinal at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Nashoba Regional, where they will meet the winner of Sunday's Western Mass. championship game between Ludlow and Amherst. Wachusett, which hovered around the .500 mark for most of the season and clawed into the tournament as the No. 10 seed, stunned perennial contender Algonquin Regional in a semifinal, finished 11-7-4. With the score tied at 1-1, Delgado gathered a loose ball 25 yards out, made a quick turn toward the goal, and smoked a left-footed blast past Mountaineers keeper Brennan Goehl to give Leominster the lead with 22:26 left to play. I just saw the ball coming toward me, and fired it,'' Delgado said. To score in a great game like this was just amazing.''
