Justin Rothermich and Riley Steele are no strangers to the big stage. Last year's heroes rose to the occasion once again Saturday afternoon at Wachusett Regional as the reigning Division 3 state champion Sutton boys repeated as Central Mass. champions, beating third-seeded Keefe Tech, 3-0, to win by the same score and at the same location in a rematch of last year's final. ‘‘This one was a lot harder,'' said Sutton coach Mike Elster, who ran into a Broncos squad that proved inventive when attacking. ‘‘It's funny because the semifinal last year was 1-0, too, so it's feeling like last year to a certain degree.'' Justin Rothermich validated his pedigree as one of the top attacking players in the area, scoring once and setting up the other two goals, including junior left back Riley Steele's bang-bang winner just three minutes into the game. ‘‘I wanted to get a very early lead so I was working hard, I was trying to find those holes through the defense. I was feeling them out, really, because we hadn't seen them since last year,'' said Rothermich, a senior captain. The Sammies (18-1-1) hope to continue mirroring last year's results in their upcoming state semifinal. They'll face the winner of Monday's Hopkins/Smith Academy Western Mass. final at Westfield State on Wednesday.
