The No. 6 Colonels (8-2), coming off an emotional loss to Inter-High rival Doherty High Friday night, used its pressure defense to slow down the top-ranked Mountaineers (11-1) and got a balanced scoring effort, led by 16 points from senior Rod Milton and 12 from sophomore Khalil Bryan-Robinson. South took a 20-14 after the first quarter and bumped its lead to 33-21 at the half, but Colonels' coach Pat Williams never felt his team's lead was safe. Wachusett's Jesse Maresca converted a three-point play to cut the South lead to 48-38 with four minutes to play, but the Colonels, as they did all night, were able to counter, as Milton, Quahine Steele and Bryan-Robinson all hit layups during a quick 8-2 run that iced the victory. Zach Berman had 12 points for Wachusett, while Alex Cooper added 10.
