Mike Fernandes, Ricardo Pereira and Khalil Barrry each had 10 points to lead the visiting Eagles. Gordy Smythe had 14 points, while Tom McGovern had 13 for the Sammies. The Eagles stayed cool down the stretch despite a gallant comeback by the never-say-die Sammies, and senior Khalil Barry was the coolest of all, swishing two free throws with seven seconds remaining to ice the game and help Tech escape with a 47-44 victory at Sutton's Stephen C. Romasco gymnasium. "This was a significant win for us," Tech coach Sean Lynch said. "We challenged our kids this season by picking up our non-league schedule, playing teams like Sutton, Whitinsville and South. We feel we have a good group of seniors, and our kids can handle this."
