Wachusett Regional sophomore guard Brittany Charlonne made the most of her scoring opportunities during Friday night's game with Shrewsbury. With 33 seconds to go in the game, Charlonne, who scored just five points, swished a three-pointer to put her team ahead for good. She followed that up with two free throws and a steal to help the second-ranked Mountaineers gain a 37-34 win at the Colonials' gym. Shrewsbury took a 34-30 lead with 2:12 remaining when sophomore Abby Joseph hit two free throws. Moments later, Wachusett closed to 34-32 on a hoop by sophomore Rachel Aho. Neither team was able to score again until Charlonne lofted her top-of-the-key trey, putting the visitors ahead, 35-34. The Colonials then turned the ball over and fouled Charlonne with 10 seconds to go. Charlonne calmly buried both free throws to account for the final margin. Shrewsbury (7-8) had one last chance to score, but Charlonne blocked the shot.
