Before tonight’s SWCL matchup between Shepherd Hill and Millbury, Shepherd Hill coach James Hackenson said his team needed to play good defense because his players were having problems shooting the ball. Don’t tell that to Hackenson’s starting backcourt of Christina Gauvin and Brooke Packard. The pair combined for seven three pointers in the Rams' win over Millbury. “We haven’t been shooting well, but everyone on my team has the green light”, Hackenson said. “Whether you’re backcourt or frontcourt, they all have the green light if they have the open shot. I thought we worked the ball well enough tonight, and we run that baseline shot for our shooters and they got open.” Shepherd Hill pulled away in the second quarter thanks to the sharpshooting of Gauvin (13 points) and Packard (13 points). With the Woolies sticking with a zone defense, Gauvin hit two straight threes and Packard added another to lead the Rams on an 11-2 run. Packard swished another from international waters and Shepherd Hill was raining threes on Millbury’s zone defense.
