Quaboag Regional is getting a little sick of coming so close in the Clark Tournament. The Cougars advanced to the Small Schools final each of the last two years, but lost both times to Uxbridge High. “We’ve got championship on our minds this year,” senior Thomas Jankins said, “but we’ve got to take it one game at a time, so that’s what we’re going to do.” The No. 2-seeded Cougars took the first step toward the school’s first Clark Tournament title on Sunday by beating No. 7 Ayer-Shirley, 78-45, in a quarterfinal at Kneller Athletic Center. With 22 points, Jankins led a trio of double-digit scorers. Sophomore Jacob Wisniewski added 18 points and 15 rebounds and junior Ethan Lecaire scored 14 points. Junior Ryan Richard led Ayer-Shirley (11-9) with 15 points. Junior Anthony Burwell pulled down 12 rebounds.
