Senior Thomas Jankins struck out 14 and hurled 7-1/3 hitless innings for the host Cougars (1-4) but was replaced after 127 pitches, and the Indians (2-1) scored two unearned runs in the eighth without a hit to win. Curtis Palmer went the distance for Ware, scattering four hits and striking out 12. Despite being held hitless, Curtis Palmer and the visiting Indians (2-1) beat Thomas Jankins in a pitchers duel in Warren. Jankins struck out 14, walked two and did not allow a hit in 7-1/3 innings - the senior right-hander was replaced after 127 pitches. Ware took advantage of a freshman reliever making his first varsity appearance to score two unearned runs on a bases-loaded walk by Drew Koczur and a sacrifice fly by Ryan Swarts - the Indians' leadoff batter in the inning reached on an error. Palmer, a senior lefty, struck out 12 while scattering four hits. Quaboag got two of their hits in the sixth, a leadoff single by Jon Janosz and a bunt single by Joey Valatores, but Palmer stranded them at second and third by striking out the side.
