It was a matter of staying patient and continuing to believe in yourself. Trailing by two runs going into the sixth inning, the Leicester softball team was on the cusp of seeing its postseason journey come to an abrupt halt. But a good team finds a way, and the Wolverines are certainly that. Leicester remained confident it could pull this one out. By stringing together three hits and taking advantage of a Notre Dame error, Leicester scored three times in the sixth to pull out a 3-2 triumph in Wednesday’s Division 2 Central Mass. semifinal at Rockwood Field. It marked the second time in as many years that the Wolverines rallied late to knock off the Rebels in the semifinals. Last year Leicester won, 3-1. “As it showed, you just never know,” Leicester coach Dave Stanick said. “You’ve got to keep fighting and keep playing. We made a couple of mistakes to give them their runs, and then we started to hit the ball and put it in play.”
