Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Worcester

Leominster High’s James Gurley scored a pair of touchdowns and came up with a key interception late in the game to boost top-ranked Leominster High to a 47-26 victory over No. 2 Doherty at Commerce Bank Field at Foley Stadium last night. The 5-0 Blue Devils erupted for 37 second-half points after trailing for the entire first half. “At halftime a bunch of got together and just talked about how terrible it feels to lose,” said Gurley, who picked off a Luke Brennan pass with less than four minutes left to stop a Doherty drive. “We just had to come out and do a better job in the second half, and we came together with a team effort and got it done by playing Leominster football – heart and soul, all out.”
