Trailing for only the second time this season, Valley Tech needed big plays ó and quarterback Nic Wojnar delivered. The senior accounted for five touchdowns ó four on the ground and one through the air ó as the second-seeded Beavers defeated No. 7 Maynard, 40-20, on Saturday in a Division 6 quarterfinal. It was a home game for Valley Tech (8-0), even though it was played at Milford High. The Beaversí home field is in poor shape, and school officials were concerned about injuries. Milfordís field is artificial turf, a surface Valley Tech hasnít played on all year. Whether it was the turf or Maynardís opportunistic play, the Beavers found themselves trailing, 14-13, in the second quarter. Wojnar indeed caught fire, taking the Beavers 54 yards for a score with just 15 seconds left before halftime. He capped the drive with a 1-yard run and connected with Matthew Wagner for the 2-point conversion to give Valley Tech a 21-14 lead.
