Tanner Jakola faced just one batter over the minimum, allowing no hits in three innings of work and Neil O’Connor closed out the final four innings, striking out five and allowing two hits as they combined to shut out the Guardians in the Central Mass. Division 1 final. Tyler Vaillette drove in both runs for the Blue Devils, one on a first-inning bloop single to right and the other on an error by the SPM shortstop. Ryan Lever (2 for 2) set the table to score both runs, singling in the first inning and doubling to the wall in left in the fifth inning. Pat Gallagher tossed the first 3-1/3 innings for St. Peter-Marian, while Nate Frederick came on for the final 2-2/3, with those two also providing the two lone hits for the Guardians. Leominster moves on to play Western Mass. champion Cathedral of Springfield in a Division 1 state semifinal at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Western New England.
