Junior Garrett Twine broke a 4-4 tie with a bases-loaded single with one out in the seventh to deliver the host Wildcats (1-4) their first victory of the season in the first round of the Taddeo Tournament. Mitch Ryan got the winning rally started with a one-out single - he was lifted for pinch runner Dave Kondrotas after advancing to second on a walk. Kondrotas scored easily from third base on Twine's line-drive single to left center. Ryan went the distance, striking out seven - he allowed six hits and four walks. Tim Baker was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs for the Spartans (3-2). Twine went 2 for 3. Gardner will host Narragansett in the championship game at 1 p.m. today at Stone Field. Oakmont will play Fitchburg in the consolation at 10 a.m.
