West Bridgewater's field hockey coach Sara Longo has known Leanne Holland since she was in seventh grade. So when the Wildcats took on Scituate yesterday in the first round of the Division 2 South tournament, it came as no surprise to the coach when her senior captain and top goal scorer stepped up for the home team. Holland scored the first and last goals for West Bridgewater in the No. 8 Wildcats 3-2 victory over the No. 9 Sailors. ‘‘She's always in the right spot at the right time,'' said Longo of Holland, who tallied both her scores off rebounds. West Bridgewater dominated the play early, according to Longo, and took a 2-0 lead into halftime. Holland's second goal early in the second half extended the lead to three, and looked to put the game out of reach. The visitors came back late with two scores in two minutes to make it a one-goal game, but it was too little, too late. ‘‘We dominated the entire game, and then it was a two-minute mental break,'' said Longo. West Bridgewater advances to play top-seeded Canton tomorrow in Canton.
