The Celtics try to rebound a disappointing road trip when they host the Portland Trailblazers tonight at the Fleetcenter. John Dennis checks in with the Celts today on 7 Sports. Tuesday night action in the NBA: Portland 101-New York 92; Milwaukee 77-New Jersey 81; Cleveland 108-Washington 100; Seattle 111-Atlanta 88; Houston 105-Minnesota 100; Utah 102-Dallas 92; Indiana 102-Denver 97; and Philadelphia visited the Los Angeles Lakers, tip off was at 10:30 pm.

The Red Sox have a new broadcast home. 75 regular season and five spring training games will be seen on Boston University owned WABU. WABU is trying to assemble a network of 8 affiliate stations around New England, including BU owned stations WNBU-TV, Channel 21 in Concord, NH and WZBU-TV, Channel 58 on Cape Cod, which are already scheduled to carry the 1996 Red Sox season. The rest of the Red Sox regular season games bill be carried on NESN.

The #24 BC Eagles and their 8-2 record travel to New Jersey to face Rutgers University tonight.

The Umass Minutemen returned to action in the first round of the Rainbow Classic Tournament in Honolulu . . . (check wire for final score/game tapped off at 12:30 am).

Patriots running back Curtis Martin was named the NFL Rookie Offensive Player of the Year . . . the third round draft pick rushed for 1,487 yards and 14 touchdowns, both Patriot records.

The Boston University Terriers romped to an easy 10-2 victory over Princeton in the Badger Classic Hockey Tournament. . . J.P. McKersie got his first win in goal since a severe bicycle accident almost took his life last year.

The Celtics resume their road struggle in Seattle tonight against the Supersonics . . . the Bruins are off until New Year's Eve when they travel to Winnipeg for a game with the Jets.

Patriots fans can rest easy . . . Bill Parcells made it official yesterday. He will return to coach the team for the 1996 season. Parcells acknowledged changes will have to be made, but believes the Patriots aren't very far off from being a legitimate contender.

The Boston College men's basketball team improved their record to 7-2 with a 116-81 victory over Long Island University. The Eagles were led by Danya Abrams' 29 points.

The #1 ranked Umass Minutemen get back at it, taking on North Carolina State in the opening round of the Rainbow Classic Tournament in Honolulu, 1:00 AM tip-off.

It's an NBA Christmas doubleheader on Channel 7 today. At 3:00, it's the Suns vs. the Spurs, followed by a rematch of last year's finals as the Rockets take on the Magic.

The NFL Playoffs are set for this weekend. On Saturday, the Miami Dolphins travel to Buffalo to tangle with the Bills, while the Philadelphia Eagles play host to the Detroit Lions. . . Sunday's matchups will see the Atlanta Falcons tackling the Green Bay Packers, and the Indianapolis Colts facing the San Diego Chargers.

Despite Barros' record, the Celtics lost to the Hornets in Charlotte last night, 107-97. Dino Radja led the Celtics with 22, while Glen Rice had 31 for the Hornets . . .
