GARY GILLIS
'7 NEWS' SPORTS REPORTER

Gary Gillis joined WHDH-TV in December of 1983. He has served as both a sports reporter and a news reporter for 7 NEWS.

He began his broadcasting career at WITS Radio (now WMRE Radio), where he started as an account executive in 1977. He later became morning drive-time sportscaster at the station.

Gillis worked at WBZ Radio for two years as a weekend sportscaster and weekday drive-time announcer prior to his employment with the USFL'S Boston Breakers football team. He worked with the Breakers for a year as the Director of Publicity, and left shortly after the team moved to New Orleans.

Gillis is on the board of directors of New Alternatives Inc., a San Diego based non-profit corporation that provides treatment and evaluation of abused children. He is also on the advisory board of the Needham Educational Foundation.

The son of veteran Boston sportscaster Don Gillis, Gary graduated from Harvard University in 1977 with a degree in psychology and social relations.
