Darlene McCarthy joined WHDH-TV, Channel 7, in April of 1992 as a general assignment reporter. She was named co-anchor of 7 NEWS at Noon in July 1992, and began her position as 7 NEWS weekend anchor in June 1994. She can be seen on Saturday and Sunday evenings, 6PM & 11PM.
Before joining Channel 7, McCarthy served as weekend anchor and general assignment reporter at WLVI-TV in Boston from 1990 to April of 1992. She was anchor of "The News at 10PM" for WLVI-TV from 1988 to 1990. From 1986 to 1988, McCarthy was the weekday evening anchor and medical beat reporter for WFMY-TV in Greensboro, North Carolina.
McCarthy serves on the Board of Directors at The Center for Children with Special Needs at New England Medical Center. She is a volunteer with the Shannon McCormack Cancer Foundation and a former Trustee at Regis College. McCarthy also sits on the Board of Presidents at Pops.
McCarthy received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts.
